Annotide helps you capture, annotate, and share screenshots on your Mac.

Your first capture

Choose Capture, or press ⌃⌥2 for a region, ⌃⌥3 for a window, and ⌃⌥4 for a screen. macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording permission. Annotide captures still images, not audio. After changing permission, quit and reopen the app if macOS requests it.

Annotate and share

Draw an arrow or shape, add text, or use solid redaction to cover sensitive content. Choose Select to move an annotation or drag its handles to resize it. The inspector accepts exact dimensions and text sizes. Use ⌘C to copy the finished image, or export PNG, JPG, or TIFF.

Messages and Mail use macOS handoffs. WhatsApp and Teams copy the image and open the chosen app; choose a conversation and paste. Telegram uses its sharing service when available.

Free trial and purchase

Choose Annotide → Trial & Purchase to start the full 14-day trial. It does not start automatically and does not renew or charge you. The window shows your local App Store price for the one-time unlock. After expiry you can still view, copy, export, share, and delete saved captures. New captures and editing require the unlock.

Choose Restore Purchases with the Apple Account that started your trial or bought Annotide. A restored trial keeps its original end date. Apple manages payment and refund requests.

Bring your existing captures

Choose File → Import Capture Library and select the existing Captures folder. For the development version, press ⇧⌘G in the folder picker and enter ~/Library/Application Support/ScreenshotCapture/Captures. Import copies originals and edits, skips duplicates, and reports unreadable entries. It never removes the source.

Storage and recovery

Completed edits save automatically. Use File → Show Files in Finder to locate your library for backup. Right-click a capture to move it to Annotide Trash. File → Annotide Trash lets you restore or permanently delete it. Captures and Trash are kept until you remove them; nothing is deleted automatically.

Editable history retains the original image. Share a flattened export when hiding information. Pixelation is a visual effect; use solid redaction for sensitive details. If saving fails, free disk space and retry before closing any unsaved text editor.
